Native seed catalogue

Find out more about germinating and propagating native seeds.

Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service created this catalogue to understand the needs for seed germination and propagation of New Zealand's native trees. For each seed, we have listed germination needs and propagation techniques among other factors. By growing our native forests, we can preserve biodiversity and develop long-term carbon sinks. Identifying natives with the most potential for large-scale propagation supports planting projects.

We will continue to add seed profiles to the catalogue in the coming months. Check back for updates.
